Ripon College receives grant to fund internships
The Center for Social Responsibility at Ripon College has received a Career Ready Internship Initiative grant of up to $135,125 through Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation. With this grant, the College is placing juniors and seniors with demonstrated financial need into 60 paid internships at not-for-profit organizations, businesses, governmental offices and at Ripon College itself.
The grant program is for the 2013-2014 academic year, and several students already have started their internships. The internships are designed to assist students in obtaining skills and experiences that will propel them into graduate school or the work world.
Some of the internships already assigned include students at Green Lake Town Square, Ripon Printers Inc., Habitat for Humanity of Fond du Lac County, Accurate Controls, Ripon Kiwanis Club and Ripon College.
Knowing that education has the power to change lives for the better, Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation & Affiliates helps millions of students pay for college and repay their student loans. Through Community Investments, Great Lakes leads initiatives and funds programs that help students from traditionally underserved backgrounds start and complete a two- or four-year degree or other credential.
