Farrell to Present on Social Transformation in China

Martin FarrellMartin Farrell, professor of politics and government and coordinator of the global studies program at Ripon College, will be presenting a paper entitled “Witnessing the Greatest Peacetime Social Transformation in Human History: Personal and Professional Reflections on Thirty-Two Years of Study and Travel in the People’’s Republic of China” at the 20th national conference of the Asian Studies Development Program of the East-West Center.

The conference will be held in Houston, Tex. on March 13-15, 2014, and this year’s theme is “Revisiting the Past, Living the Present, Envisioning the Future.”

Farrell will be presenting the same paper to the Ripon College Liberal Arts Symposium on Feb. 5 at 6:30 p.m. in East Hall Little Theatre. The Liberal Arts Symposium is an annual event celebrating faculty scholarship and inviting discussion from all members of the campus community. This year’s featured speakers are Farrell and Professor Lamont Colucci, who will share findings from their recent sabbatical projects and engage in discussion with faculty and student respondents as well as members of the audience.
