ROTC program top in north central U.S.

The UW Oshkosh ROTC program, which includes Ripon College, St. Norbert College, UW-Green Bay and Marian University, has been named the top ROTC program among 43 college and university programs in the north central United States. The honor was bestowed upon the program at the recent 3rd U.S. Army ROTC Brigade Professor of Military Science and Senior Military Instructor Conference in Great Lakes Naval Training Center in Chicago, Ill. The rankings are based on program assessments made by the 3rd Army ROTC Regional Headquarters in Chicago.

Evaluation criteria leading to this ranking includes metrics in the following functional areas: cadet performance, training management, cadet management/administration, logistics, marketing/recruiting, and command inspection evaluations.

“Schools competing for this award include some of the most prestigious universities in our country. The award reflects highly on the quality and desire to excel of our students who are predominantly from high schools and communities throughout Wisconsin,” said Kent Sorensen, GS, enrollment/scholarship officer for Army ROTC at UW-Oshkosh. “Our performance simply could not have been achieved without the strong support from the Ripon College leadership! The relationship we have with our Ripon College counterparts is the finest model of support for all ROTC programs anywhere.”

This is the first time in recorded history that a state school in Wisconsin has obtained this ranking.
