Ripon College Jazz Ensemble to perform April 27

The Ripon College Jazz Ensemble will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 27. The concert will be held in Demmer Recital Hall, C.J. Rodman Center for the Arts, on the campus. Professor of Music Kurt Dietrich is the conductor. Admission to the concert is free.

Selections will include several Latin jazz pieces by jazz pianist Chick Corea, and pieces by noted jazz composers and performers Bill Holman, Pat Metheny and Duke Ellington. The band also will be the first group to perform Wisconsin composer Paul Dietrich’s “Like Water,” outside of Dietrich’s own Jazz Ensemble.

The concert will also feature the Jazz Improvisation group, which will perform class small group compositions by John Coltrane and others.
