Sen. Luther Olsen to join panel about civil discourse Thursday
State Sen. Luther Olsen (R-Wis.) will join the panel about civil discourse to be held Thursday at Ripon College. Panelists already scheduled to speak are Craig Gilbert, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Washington Bureau Chief and author of The Wisconsin Voter political blog; Joy Cardin, formerly a host on Wisconsin Public Radio; and Sarah Lloyd of the Wisconsin Farmers Union and the Wisconsin Food Hub Cooperative.
Olsen is a Republican member of the Wisconsin Senate, representing the 14th District since 2004. He previously was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly from 1994 through 2004.
“Bridging the Political Divide: How We Can Advance Civil Discourse” will address how we can have civil discussions with others whose views are fundamentally opposed to ours, as well as why it is so important that we learn how to better communicate with each other.
It will run from 6:30-7:45 p.m. in Kresge Little Theatre, East Hall, on the campus. It is sponsored by the Center for Politics and the People of Ripon College and the League of Women Voters of the Ripon Area.
