Decline of civil liberties will be focus of talk Nov. 19
David Niose, legal director for the Appignani Humanist Legal Center, will speak Nov. 19 at Ripon College. His presentation is titled “Anti-Intellectualism and the Decline of Civil Liberties.” The talk will run from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the Kresge Little Theatre in East Hall.
Niose has experience in law and mass communication. As an attorney, author, and activist, Niose is a leading advocate for secularism in American society. He has litigated church-state lawsuits in state and federal courts all over the country, and has written extensively on the impact of anti-intellectualism on politics and culture.
He has served as president for the American Humanist Association and the Secular Coalition for America, and he has served on the boards of Greater Worcester Humanists and Greater Boston Humanists.
