Orchestra, choral musicians will perform Sunday

The Ripon College Orchestra, Chamber Singers and Choral Union will join together to present a collaborative concert Sunday, May 5. The concert will begin at 3:15 p.m. in Demmer Recital Hall, C.J. Rodman Center for the Arts.

Orchestra is conducted by Dylan Chmura-Moore, adjunct professor of music. Chamber Singers and Choral Union are conducted by John C. Hughes, assistant professor of music, director of choral activities and chair of the music department.

Accompanists are Sarah Mahler Kraaz, professor of music, William Harley Barber Distinguished Professor and College Organist; and Maria Kaiser Dietrich, adjunct instructor of music.

Orchestra will play “Konzert in g-Moll, für Orgel und Orchester,” by George Frederick Handel, with Kraaz accompanying on organ.

Choral Union and Orchestra will perform “Missa brevis Sancti Joannis de Deo,” by Joseph Haydn, with and Cayla Roché, soprano, and Kraaz, organ, accompanying; and “Nänie,” by Johannes Brahms.

Chamber Singers will perform “The Fabric of Streams,” by Gregory W. Brown; “Three Scottish Songs,” by Sarah Mahler Kraaz, with Lydia WileyDeal ’22 of Whitewater, Wisconsin, flute, and Dietrich, piano, accompanying; “Danny Boy,” by Z. Randall Stroope, with Wiley Deal and Dietrich accompanying; and “Choose Something Like a Star,” from Frostiana, by Randall Thompson, with Dietrich, piano, and Kraaz, guest conductor, accompanying.
