Mollie Oblinger exhibiting work in two exhibits
Mollie Oblinger, associate professor of art, has work in two current exhibits.
The three-person exhibit “Somatic Shapes” is running through Sept. 30 at the James May Gallery, Algoma, Wisconsin.
A solo show, “In Which the Bottom is Collapsing,” is a portrait of the evolving ecosystem of the Great Lakes. Silhouettes of the nonnative species, the lakes and the boundaries of the watershed are cut from synthetic fabrics and abstracted to mirror changes in the watershed. The exhibit is running through Oct. 3 at Mount Mary University, Milwaukee. On Sept. 25, Oblinger will give at talk at 5 p.m., and a reception will begin at 6 p.m.
In November, Oblinger will participate in a Community Engagement Symposium at Marquette University. She will show images and talk about her recent public artworks along the Kinnickinnic River Trail in Milwaukee.
