Photo from off-campus trip to Italy wins honorable mention
Laura Shively ’15 of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, won an honorable mention in the Associated Colleges of the Midwest 2014-15 ACM Photo Contest Digital Show of photos taken during off-campus experiences. Shively took part in the ACM Florence: Arts, Humanities & Culture program in the fall of 2013. About her winning photo, “Villa in the Fog,” Shively says:
“This picture was taken at one of the Medici villas located in Fiesole, a city just northeast of Florence. It is a short bus ride from San Marco to Fiesole, and we visited this villa for class one morning in the middle of October, just before our midterm break. Because we left rather early in the morning, the villa was surrounded by dense fog for most of our tour, and it slowly burned away as the sun rose through our class lecture and corresponding tour. This picture is one of the villa gardens and the pots of lemons that decorated many of the walkways throughout the villa.”
