Award-winning author will read March 17 in virtual Visiting Writers presentation
Author Souvankham Thammavongsa will read Wednesday, March 17, as part of the Visiting Writers Series at Ripon College. The virtual event will begin via Zoom link at 7:30 p.m.
Thammavongsa is the author of four poetry books and the short story collection How to Pronounce Knife (Little, Brown, 2020), a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award and PEN America’s Open Book Award, and winner of Canada’s Scotiabank Giller Prize. Her stories have won an O. Henry Award and appeared in The New Yorker, Harper’s, The Paris Review, The Atlantic, Granta and NOON.
She was born in the Lao refugee camp in Nong Khai, Thailand, and was raised and educated in Toronto, Canada.
