HOW TO APPLY AND APPLICATION CHECKLIST
You have two ways to apply: a Ripon application or the Common App. Before you get started, make sure you have collected and reviewed the items below.
Completed Ripon College application or Common App application
If you apply by January 15, our $30 application fee is waived.
Secondary school transcript
Must include grades from the first three years of secondary school
Secondary school counselor recommendation
Additional letters of recommendation
ACT or SAT results (We will consider your test scores if you choose to submit them. Scores sent from your high school counseling office or listed on your transcript will be considered official.)
Personal statement and college essay
An interview is required for students who are homeschooled.

*The charge for students taking fewer than 12 credits is $1442 per credit. **Students who are degree and non-degree seeking and are registered for more than 20 credits in an academic term will be charged additional tuition for each additional credit. The fee charged for the academic year is $1442 per credit. ***Tuition is charged for courses in which the student is registered after the no-asterisk add/drop date, regardless of final grade. The following credits do not count against the 20 credit limit: music lessons, music ensembles, theatre productions. Exceptions are considered by the Office of the Dean of Faculty. Failure to successfully complete and earn credit for all registered courses will not cancel or modify any overload fees that have been assessed. |

*If English is your second language, you are required to take the TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo English Test. Scores can be submitted either directly from the testing agency (SAT code: 1664 / ACT code: 4636) or on your official secondary school transcript.
We want you to be well prepared for a Ripon education. Students should have completed a minimum of 17 units of the following courses:
- Mathematics: Algebra, Geometry and Algebra II
- English: 4 years
- Social Studies: 3 years
- Natural Sciences: 3 years
- Additional units from the subject areas above, foreign language or fine arts
At Ripon, most AP exams with a score of 3 or higher will earn you three or more credits toward graduation. Credit and placement will also be given to students who have passed the IB-North America Higher level courses with a grade of 3 or better. Placement is subject to approval by the appropriate Ripon College academic department.
