Faculty and Scholarship
The Ripon College faculty are renowned as scholar-teachers. While they pursue their own research and passions, their commitment to great teaching is unsurpassed. Ripon’s small class sizes and focus on undergraduate excellence means that faculty and students really get to know each other, both in their traditional student/professor roles and as people.
Ninety-seven percent of Ripon faculty have earned the highest degree available in their field, whether that’s a Ph.D., M.F.A. or other terminal degree. They are actively writing and researching with support from prestigious national foundations such as the National Science Foundation, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and more.
Students at Ripon produce their own research with faculty guidance and also assist faculty with their research. It’s one of the advantages of attending a college where your professors work alongside you and are dedicated to getting you ready for life beyond the undergraduate experience.
In the labs, library, archives, fields, streams, lakes, and prairies around our beautiful campus — and internationally — Ripon students are actively building their research experience and frequently graduate as published scholars, sometimes as solo authors and sometimes alongside their fellow students and faculty members.
