With a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia and roots in East China, I bring a unique perspective to my work. My expertise spans a wide range of topics, including comparative democratization, media politics, cyberpolitics, political communication, public opinion, nationalism, and research methodology (quantitative and qualitative). My focus on authoritarian regimes, particularly China, allows me to explore the question of how authoritarianism remains durable and viable through various means. My recent publications have appeared in leading journals such as the Journal of Chinese Political Science and the International Studies Review, among others.
I teach courses such as POL 112: Global Political Economy, POL 114: Introduction to Global Issues, POL 170: Introduction to Comparative Politics, CTL 210 East Asian Culture, POL 254: Politics of China, POL 257: U.S.-East Asia Relations, POL 275 Political Communication: An Authoritarian Perspective, POL 278: Digital Media and Global Politics, and POL 235: Data Analysis and Visualization.
I love spending time with my young daughter and wonderful spouse when I’m not immersed in academia. We enjoy exploring museums, visiting amusement parks, and hiking or tackling climbing trails together.
