Update from One Merriman Lane | April 21, 2020

Dear Students,

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are aware that many of your lives have been disrupted significantly, and as a result, you and your families may have experienced unexpected emergency expenses.  I want you to know that over the course of the past few weeks, the administration team has been working hard to consider how to help you meet your most pressing and immediate needs.

On April 9, we received notification from the US Department of Education that the CARES Act would be distributing funds to institutions of higher education based on student enrollment and other factors.  Ripon College is set to receive approximately $900,000 from the CARES Act with approximately $450,000 to be allocated to immediate student support to help cover expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus.

The CARES Act Emergency Relief Fund will help currently enrolled Ripon College students with extraordinary one-time costs that have arisen as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.  At this time, the maximum amount of emergency assistance that will be provided from this grant is $2,000.

To apply for these funds, students must complete a short online application form indicating need resulting from COVID-19.  The funds will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis and will be distributed via check on a rolling basis.  You will be notified via your ripon.edu email address about funding.  Please contact [email protected] if you have any questions.

If your family’s financial circumstances have changed due to a change in income, please contact the Office of Financial Aid at [email protected].

On behalf of the entire campus community, I wish you all the best as the spring semester comes to a close.

Sincerely,

Zach Messitte
President
