Work by Mexican-American artist opens at 314

“Joy and time can heal your soul when nature’s fragments come together,” an exhibit of work by artist Alejandro Becerra, will be open Sept. 16 at 314: Ripon College Project Space, 314 Watson St., in downtown Ripon.

A reception will begin at 7 p.m., and refreshments will be provided.

Becerra owns South of the Border restaurant in Oshkosh. He was born in Jucutacato, Uruapan, Michoacan, Mexico. His parents left Mexico for the United States to escape poverty.

He is a prolific painter of large abstractions that are inspired by the interconnected fragments of the mind, body and soul. They comment on spiritual experiences and faith in things unseen.
