CPP, Student Advisory Board to co-host 2024 election results student panel
Ripon College’s Center for Politics and the People (CPP) and its Student Advisory Board will co-host a student panel discussion on the 2024 election results in Kresge Little Theatre of East Hall, Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 5:15 p.m.
The panel, “After the Election – Now What?,” will address topics such as polling, Wisconsin’s role in the election outcome, the results of both state and national elections and their potential effects on salient issues.
The student panelists, chosen for ideological diversity, include:
- Preston Reese-Grimm: a junior majoring in political science and minoring in philosophy, co-president of Ripon College Republicans, co-president of Ripon College Investment Club
- Alivia Roeglin: a senior majoring in political science, psychology and women’s, gender and sexuality studies, president of Women in Gender Studies Club
- Sarah Thompson: a senior majoring in exercise science, co-president of Ripon College Republicans, president of Phi Epsilon Kappa (exercise science honor society)
- Zoe Stephanie: a sophomore, major undeclared, president of Ripon College Feminists, Student Senate Treasurer
The event will be moderated by Professor of Political Science and CPP Director Henrik Schatzinger.
“I think attendees will find it interesting to hear from a politically diverse group of students what they believe led to the election results, what this means for our political parties and social cleavages going forward and what policy changes we can expect,” Schatzinger said. “There will be a lot to dissect that evening.”
Admission is free and open to the public. The discussion will be live-streamed by Wisconsin Eye.
The Center for Politics and the People at Ripon College was created to promote constructive political debate, analyze public policy and foster the engagement of citizens and their government. Students and faculty work together to plan meaningful events throughout the year that attract policymakers, academics, experts, candidates and politicians to share their experience and expertise with the Center.
