Choirs open season November 21

The Collegium Musicum choral ensemble at Ripon College will present its first concert of the season at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21. The performance will be in Demmer Recital Hall, C.J. Rodman Center for the Arts, on the College campus. Admission is free.

The conductor is John C. Hughes, assistant professor of music and director of choral activities at Ripon College.

The program includes pieces in eight languages. Major selections will be “My Spirit Sang All Day,” by Gerald Finzi; “Magnificat,” by Johann Pachelbel, with Sarah Mahler Kraaz accompanying on continuo; “Bogoróditse Djévo,” by Arvo Pärt; three lullabies, “Sure On This Shining Night,” by Morten Lauridsen, accompanied by Maria Kaiser Dietrich on piano, “Duerme Negrito,” by Atahualpa Yupanqui, with McCayla Thoe, alto soloist; and “Desh,” arranged by Ethan Sperry.
