Ripon College named to President’s Honor Roll for Community Service

Ripon College has been recognized on the 2014 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for exemplary community service. The Corporation for National and Community Service, the federal agency for volunteering and service, has administered the award since 2006 in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, as well as the American Council on Education, Campus Compact, and the Interfaith Youth Core.

The award recognizes higher education institutions whose community service efforts achieve meaningful outcomes in their communities. This distinction is the highest federal recognition that colleges and universities can receive for community service, service-learning, and civic engagement.

This recognition is part of a strategic commitment to engage millions of college students in service and highlight the critical role of higher education in strengthening communities. As a result, more students are likely to pursue a lifelong path of civic engagement that achieves meaningful and measurable outcomes in their communities.

At Ripon College, 81 percent of students volunteer time to the service of others. During the 2013-14 school year, 5,522 service hours were volunteered.
