Farewell and thank you to our 2023-24 retirees

MICHELE BARAN WITTLER ’76, 39 years
Michele Baran Wittler ’76, associate dean of faculty and registrar, will retire from Ripon May 31.

She started at Ripon in January 1985 as coordinator of academic computing. In addition to her current formal titles, she also is the Title IX coordinator, the Ripon College Primary Designated School Official for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and director of academic advising.

Her past roles include interim vice president and dean of faculty; interim vice president and dean of admission, Affirmative Action officer; director of Off-Campus Study Programs; and faculty representative to the Men’s Midwest Athletic Conference. She also was an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science for many years.

She says her retirement plans include “more time: with family, with friends, to travel, to read, to exercise. I wish to play competitive bridge, and I suspect other ideas will emerge.”

JAYE ALDERSON, 18 years
Jaye Alderson, College Editor, will retire June 28. She started at Ripon May 1, 2006, as assistant director of Publications and Marketing and is retiring as College Editor in Marketing and Communications.

“In retirement,” she says, “I will be focusing on personal writing projects and catching up on a lot of reading. I also plan to do a lot of travelling and continue to work part-time in professional theatre.”

She says what she has found most enjoyable about working at Ripon “is touching all areas of the College and working directly with people all over campus and with alumni around the world to tell the stories about the people and activities that make Ripon what it is. I have enjoyed these conversations more than anything.”
