APERI ANIMAM to perform Renaissance music at Ripon College on Oct. 4

RIPON, Wisconsin – APERI ANIMAM, a celebrated vocal early music ensemble based in the greater Milwaukee area, will perform a concert entitled “Semper Ardet: Music from Latin America” at Ripon College at 7 p.m. in Demmer Recital Hall, C.J. Rodman Center for the Arts on Friday, Oct. 4.

This performance is the first concert in the 2024-25 Chamber Music & Jazz at Ripon series. All events in the series are free and open to the public courtesy of donations through Ripon College’s Friends of the Arts.

The 2024-25 year marks APERI ANIMAM’s 8th anniversary of captivating music enthusiasts nationwide. Comprised of vocalists with diverse performance experiences, the group is known for their precision, expressive vocals and innovative programming.

Pre-concert contemplation of artworks selected by Professor of Art History Travis Nygard inspired by the performance begins at 6:30 p.m. and will be played on loop.

In addition to the concert, APERI ANIMAM will host a clinic earlier in the day for Ripon College choral students.

  • “Madre la dos los primores” – Juana Inés de la Cruz
  • “Circumdederunt me” – de Padilla
  • “De Lamentatione Jeremiae” – Manuel de Zumaya
  • “Cui luna, Sol, et omnia” – Francisco López Capillas
  • “Convidando esta la noche” – Juan Garcia de Zéspedes
  • “Salve Regina” – de Padilla
  • “Viva Ignacio! Viva!” – Gaspar Fernandes
