Theatre Auditions

August 29th: 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm @ C.J. Rodman Center for the Arts: Benstead Theatre

The theatre department is holding open auditions and crew call for the plays that will be presented this fall. Auditions will be held on Tuesday, August 29, and Wednesday, August 30.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the structure of auditions?
    Students who audition will placed in small groups from which they will read aloud from the script. You don’t have to memorize anything to audition, however it may to familiarize yourself with the play and the characters. Full copies of the scripts are available at the Lane Library Circulation Desk until Wednesday, Aug. 30, at 2 p.m.
  • What do I need to prepare?
    Arrive on time for your audition and complete an online audition form including any foreseeable scheduling conflicts.
  • How long will it take?
    It should take approx. 20 minutes to read for each director. When you are finished you will be dismissed.
  • Who will present at my audition?
    The director.
  • When will the cast list be posted?
    The cast list will be posted in the Green Room on Thursday by 5 p.m.
  • How much experience do I need?
    No acting or crew experience is necessary. We encourage everyone with an interest in theatre to participate.
  • Will I be excluded from a role if I don’t look the part?
    No! The theatre department works hard to provide equal access to people from different genders, races, ethnicities, ages, abilities, and sexual orientations in order to strengthen diversity on and off stage.
