César Chávez Day & Service Awards

April 7th: 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm @ Great Hall

César Chávez passed away in San Luis, Arizona on April 23rd 1993. In recognition of his support of working people, César Chávez was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously in 1994. We honor his life and his legacy by recommitting ourselves to keeping his dream alive. The values César Chávez lived by guide us still. As we push to build ladders of opportunity for everyone to climb, we recall his resilience through setbacks, his refusal to scale back his dreams and we draw strength from his vision and example.

The César Chávez Day Service Awards honors workers of the Ripon College community who reflect César Chávez’ principles and ideals of service to others. These recipients and hard workers at Ripon College have demonstrated character through the maintenance of integrity and the balance of respect and responsibility. Award recipients will be recognized for their compassionate and courageous efforts to create a safe campus community in their day to day efforts.
