Chamber Music & Jazz Series: HAXAN (silent film) with Live Soundtrack
October 15th: 12:00 am - 1:30 am @ Rodman - Demmer Recital Hall
Joe Clark and Chad McCullough present a live soundtrack to accompany Benjamin Christensen’s 1922 classic HAXAN (“The Witch”), celebrating the 100th anniversary of the film’s release. HAXAN is a silent horror essay work blending documentary-style storytelling with dramatized narrative sequences, and the film charts the historical roots and superstitions surrounding witchcraft from the Middle Ages through the early 20th century, ultimately proposing that early witch unts may ave stemmed from misunderstandings of mental or neurological disorders, triggering mass hysteria.
This unique event in the Chamber Music & Jazz at Ripon Series will feature a showing of the film accompanied by a live score composed by Clark and McCullough, and the artists will give a pre-concert talk at 6:00pm in Demmer Recital Hall.
Thanks to generous contributions from Ripon College’s Friends of the Arts, all events in the Chamber Music & Jazz at Ripon Series are free and open to the public.
