Math Students Place Third in Regional Conference
Ripon College students Allwin McDonald ’17 (Milbank, SD), Dianne Pedroza ’17 (Los Angeles, CA), Lincoln Wurtz ’17 (Ripon, WI), and Mitchell Eithun ’17 (New London, WI) earned third place in “Face Off! The Mathematics Game Show” during the 29th annual Pi Mu Epsilon Regional Undergraduate Math Conference held at St. Norbert College, November 7-8, 2014. Face Off! Is a quiz show with questions from the broad realm of mathematics. The students competed against teams from nine other colleges.
Math majors Erin Frassetto ’17 (Milwaukee, WI), Tyler Shimek ’16 (Greendale, WI), and Lincoln Wurtz gave a talk on research they did as part of a faculty-sponsored grant from the Center for Undergraduate Research in Mathematics titled, “Analyzing Triangulated Piecewise-Flat 3-manifolds.” More than 100 students and faculty attended the talk.
