2023 HEDIT Conference – Beyond Comfort Zones: Embracing Conflict as a Driver of Inclusion

October 26th: 8:00 am - 12:45 pm @ Moraine Park Technical College | 235 N. National Ave., Fond du Lac

Sponsored by the Higher Education Diversity and Inclusion Team (HEDIT) of Fond du Lac County, which includes Ripon College, Marian University, Moraine Park Technical College and UW Oshkosh Fond du Lac, this year’s HEDIT Conference features keynote speaker Jen Frey.

Jen will present Beyond Comfort Zones: Embracing Conflict as a Driver of Inclusion.

Diversity, equity and inclusion efforts create change. They disrupt the status quo. And conflict is a normal part of that change, disruption, and progress. As change agents and advocates, we understand that conflict within the professional setting is also political and nuanced. We must learn to navigate conflict effectively and skillfully. This takes practice, commitment, and an openness to learning a different approach from what you may be used to. But knowing how to navigate conflict and these difficult, essential conversations deftly will be well worth the effort. In this session, we’ll examine your relationship with conflict, as this is foundational to understanding what strategies you need for effectively navigating conflict as you continue to advocate for equity and inclusion. You’ll learn how your relationship with conflict shows up in your interactions, how to leverage your influence, and strategies for navigating the hard conversations.

The conference is free to attend. Click here to register.

The Center for Diversity and Inclusion will provide free transportation to anyone attending the HEDIT conference. Click here to register for transportation.
