Exhibition on Art, Activism, & Intersectionality
The Caestecker Gallery at Ripon College is pleased to present an exhibit curated by students, titled Art, Activism, & Intersectionality: An Exhibit of Contemporary Posters. This exhibit features posters and graphics that focus on social issues of today, including topics as varied as the environment, racism, sexism, warfare, and mental health.
Visitors to the gallery will be able to vote for their favorite posters as well as to leave their thoughts in the gallery. Associate Professor Travis Nygard stated that “I am particularly excited that the college is hosting this exhibition, as it provides us with an opportunity to discuss important topics that Americans are struggling with today. I am curious to hear what the community has to say, as this is an important dialogue.”
Students taking classes in the art and museum studies programs curated the show under the direction of Associate Professor Travis Nygard. The students included Lili Alderson, Lupita Aviles, Nicholas Fuentes, Alanis Harris, Rae Klancnik, Gemma Koester-Jess, Miles Kremsreiter, Juliette Lingle, Hailey Makuski, Sarah Nakis, Becca Parker, Deonte Perry, Livi Robinson, Lizzie Tallman, and Bailey Zanck.
A lecture and opening will take place on Friday, November 5, from 7:00-8:30 p.m. in Rodman Center for the Arts. The exhibit continues until December 10, and it is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Tues.-Fri. 2-5 pm and Sat.-Sun. 2-6 pm. Masks are required in all buildings at Ripon College.
